Marine Mammal Rescue
Become an expert responder when dolphins and whales are beached!
Information
Every year, whales and dolphins have been found stranded along coastlines around the world. Assessing and aiding these stranded animals is not as easy as it seems, and requires the aid of properly trained volunteers. We have established a Marine Mammal Medic Training Course in collaboration with the Marine Animal Response Society (MARS) located in Atlantic Canada.
This course will train you in the role of a marine mammal medic. Your skills will range from making the animals comfortable and relieving stress, to collecting information, gathering scientific data, helping with crowd control and the media, assessing whether the animal(s) can be rescued or not, and collaborating with experts (including vets) to properly carry out the best course of action.
